Newsletter April 2018

Lynn Lynn, Day Care Manager

Dear Parents,

Welcome back after the Easter holidays, we hope you had a lovely weekend. Funded children who attend nursery on a term time only basis return on Monday 16th April.

We are continuing to upgrade the last part of our garden which will be ready for the children this month!  This area will be for the children to plant fruit, vegetables and herbs which will be used for snack and lunch times.

Preschool Information evening:

We are holding a Parents Information evening for Preschool parents. Sasha and Emmie would like to talk about the Early Years Foundation Stage and how they are getting the children school ready. This will take place on Tuesday 24th April.

Preschool will also have a chance to discuss their child’s development and progress at one of our parent/teacher meetings which will take place on Thursday 26th April and Tuesday 1stMay from 6pm-8pm.  There will be a sign on your child’s classroom door with available times.

Teddy Tennis has now started on a Friday morning in Pre-School, which the children are loving, if you need details on how to book these sessions then please ask in the office.

The Littles and Under 2’s room will be arranging a parent’s evening in July, but if you would like to meet with the room leader or keyperson before this they will happily arrange a time to see you.

We will be continuing to do Forest School with the children in our local woods, now that the weather is better.  Beach School will also be starting from May onwards, which the children are really looking forward to.

Please continue to put any milestones on your child’s Tapestry, it’s so nice to see what the children enjoy doing at home. Please feel free to pop into the office if you have any queries.

Andrea Andrea, Under Twos Manager

Later on in the month we will move on to The Farm. We will be making a range of farm animals, using a range of materials and mark making tools. We will also make some barns using lollipop sticks. This covers Exploring Media and Materials and Physical Development in the EYFS.

We will have the small world farm area set up with the animals and explore the different noises they make using our voices.  This covers The World, Understanding and Speaking in the EYFS.

We will also have a sensory tub with hay and hidden farm animals in to find, touch and feel. This covers The World and Exploring Media and Materials in the EYFS.

If you haven’t already sent them in, can you please email us photos of your children and your family for their family books to info@fitnfunkids.co.uk, or bring copies in.

Claire Claire, Littles Manager and Deputy Manager

April in the Littles room is all about Spring.  We are going to plant some flowers and grow some cress.  This helps to develop the children’s understanding of the world.  Our lovely Hannah took part in some forest school training last month, so we plan to take some trips down to Tregoniggie woods in small groups, to take part in some forest school activities.  The children will explore shapes and colours to make their own flower pictures, which expands their mathematics, expressive arts and design development.

We would like to update the children’s family books, so we ask if you could email or send in some recent family pictures, so the children can look at them and share them with their friends.  Please send in coats and wellies so we can explore our outside area, even during the April showers.

Also remember to upload pictures of your child’s adventures onto tapestry, as we love to look at them with your children.

Sasha Sasha, Early Years Teacher – Pre-School

Welcome to the start of the summer term! We have lots of exciting plans for this month. In the lead up to our beach school sessions starting in May, we are going to focus on the topic of ‘At the Seaside’ for the first half of the summer term. This will cover areas such as, beach, sea and sun safety, in order to ensure the children are aware of how to keep themselves safe at the beach, essential skills needed for living in Cornwall!

We will begin the term looking at ‘under the sea’, focusing on the story ‘The Rainbow Fish’, this will build upon the children’s Personal Social and Emotional skills, in particular the ability to share and take turns and how to compromise and deal with conflict around sharing between themselves, encouraging them to manage their own feelings and behaviour in an appropriate way.  The Rainbow Fish also leads itself towards experimenting with a range of different colours and textures, linking to the importance of Expressive Arts and Design, whilst also enabling the children to develop more knowledge about the world around them through exploring a wide variety of sea animals and plants that can be found under the sea.

As always, we follow the children’s interests so we may go on to look at water transport, different countries to travel to by boat, things you may find on a beach, where else you may find water – such as pond life, rivers etc.

Please keep adding your lovely adventures and activities your children have been on and done at home on to Tapestry, it’s great to see! If you haven’t already please could you bring in some welly boots for your child for our forest school sessions and as the weather brightens up please bring in some sun cream and a sun hat for all of our outdoor adventures.

Parents please note that funded pre-school children that finish in readiness for school at the end of term are able to continue on a private basis until September for holiday care with us in our pre-school room.  Reception and Class 1 aged children are able to continue to access holiday care with us in our pre-school room for future school holidays.

Thank you :)

Amy Amy, Out of School & Holiday Club Manager

We have had a lovely time in holiday club over Easter, with trips to the beach and park and Newquay Aquarium.  The children have had great fun making, Easter eggs, bonnets and cards.  We have also done lots of Easter baking, which the children enjoyed eating!

During April we will be exploring spring by doing our own flower planting and watching them grow and also celebrating Earth day by taking a week to learn how we can help our environment and baking our own Earth cookies!

Parents please note that funded pre-school children that finish in readiness for school at the end of term are able to continue on a private basis until September for holiday care with us in our pre-school room.  Reception and Class 1 aged children are able to continue to access holiday care with us in our pre-school room for future school holidays.
