I have worked in childcare in a variety of settings over the last 25 years, in creches, playgroups and nurseries. I took some time out to care for my three children (who are now in their teens) I also studied for a degree in illustration, one of my other loves, which I have used with children in community arts groups and in the everyday practice of helping children to experiment and gain confidence in making their own artwork.
This is a job I love because it is different every day and we work in a team to provide the best care that we can.
I love going to festivals and have helped put on children’s areas-which is a lot of fun!
I worked for 7 years at a busy city nursery in the Midlands where there were lots of different languages and cultures within the local area. I did some very comprehensive diversity training which I have made part of my practice and welcome further training to keep up my skills in this and all areas.
Some of my work has been with children with special needs in their own homes, hospital and at Fit N Fun Kids helping children to reach their potential and preparing them for starting school.
Out of work time I enjoy cycling, camping, creating art, playing the drums and growing veggies.
