Hello, I am Karen and I live in Gerrans with my husband Phil. I have two sons, both now grown with families of their own.
I studied at Marjon’s Plymouth and qualified as a Primary School Teacher from The University of Exeter in 1997. I began my teaching career in Berkshire when my husband left the Royal Navy.
I taught in the Early Years Foundation Stage of a two form entry Nursery and Primary School for 15 years and whilst there I developed a great interest in Early Years education. I became the EYFS Co-ordinator and then EYFS Team Leader where I led and managed the Foundation Stage whilst teaching a Reception class. I also became the Phonics Lead for the school.
I spent several years as an Early Years Lead Teacher for West Berkshire and had six years’ experience of being a Lead Moderator for the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile. Working alongside other early years settings within the local area and supporting practice was immensely rewarding, both professionally and personally.
For me, making a difference to young children’s learning and development, and giving them opportunities to be the best they can be, continues to be something I am extremely passionate about.
I no longer have young children of my own but I am very lucky to enjoy time with my grandchildren, taking advantage of the many glorious walks on the Roseland, and Pilates.
You can relax when you bring your child to Fit 'N' Fun Nurseries, comfortable in the knowledge that they will be safe, stimulated, nurtured, educated, supported and encouraged.
