This month we will be focusing on all things Christmas. We will have a Christmas treasure basket, with tinsel, baubles etc, for the children to look at and feel. This relates to understanding the world and exploring media and materials in the EYFS.
We will also be making a range of Christmas crafts, using different materials like cotton wool, sequins, paint, collage etc. This relates to exploring media and materials in the EYFS.
We would like to wish all our parents and children a lovely festive Christmas together.
Claire, Littles Manager and Deputy Manager
Well it’s that time of the year again, when there is glitter everywhere! Your little Elves will be making lots of keepsakes for you, using their hands and feet, saltdough and of course the main ingredient of Christmas glitter!
The children will be learning Christmas songs and look at how Christmas is celebrated around the world, which helps the children to develop their understanding of the world.
Just a couple of reminders for you; please can you label your children’s coats, clothes and shoes. Please don’t let the children bring in toys from home, as they sometimes cause the children to get upset and they may get broken.
Myself and my team would like to wish you all a magical festive season.
Sasha, Early Years Teacher – Pre-School
Merry Christmas Everyone!
Throughout December we will be doing lots of festive activities. The children will be learning about the story of the Christmas nativity and having a go at acting this out in small groups. We will be continuing to learn our Christmas carols and songs for our performance at the Donkey Sanctuary on the 12th and 14th of December – we look forward to seeing you all there.
Pre-school will also be using their imaginations to create Santa’s workshop, becoming Christmas elves and helping to wrap presents and write labels! We will be doing some weighing and measuring, making and decorating some gingerbread men and Christmas cookies. There will be lots of glitter and shiny things whilst creating Christmas cards and decorations. We will also have some wintery walks down to the woods to collect some natural objects such as pine cones and twigs to decorate for Christmas too. What a lot of festive fun!
Pre-school will be developing and sharing their own ideas surrounding what they would like to learn and do relating to the Christmas period too, so activities and plans may change throughout the month depending on their interests and misconceptions.
Please don’t forget to make an appointment for parents evening if you would like one, there is a sign up on the pre-school door if you would like to select your preferred date and time. We will also be collecting some food for Falmouth and Penryn Food Bank, please see the posters around the nursery if you would like to contribute to this.
Finally pre-schools Christmas party is on the 15th December from 2-3 pm if you would like to come in for a drink, mince pie and join in the Christmas cheer! This will also give you a good opportunity to see what your children have been up to over this term too.
I have enjoyed my first term in pre-school and hope your children have too. We have shared lots of fun and exciting learning experiences together throughout the first term and I look forward to many more pre-school adventures in the New Year!
Amy, Out of School & Holiday Club Manager

Please take a look at our Christmas holiday itinerary to have a look what we will be getting up to! We are continuing with our special offer price for holiday club 9am to 4pm @ £15.00.
