Welcome to this month’s newsletter

It’s so nice to see the children getting out and about during their Forest and Beach school sessions. They have so much to tell us when they get back from their adventures; this is such an important part of a child’s learning as they experience so much more in the outdoor environment. We are so lucky to have these fantastic facilities on our doorstep.

With the finer weather here, can I remind all parents to apply sun cream on your children before coming into nursery and our staff will top it up throughout the day. 

Polite reminder: Please do not use your mobile phone in the nursery, if you would like to make a call please step in to the office before dropping off/collecting your child for safeguarding reasons. 

A second Preschool Information evening will be held for Parents who could not attend the previous evening; Sasha and Emmie will discuss how they are preparing the children for school and include activities you can do at home with your children to help them as well. This will be held on 19th June 2018.

Reception class teachers from each school have been invited in to meet with the children which will be happening between now and the end of term. Exciting times ahead!

Andrea Andrea, Under Twos Manager

Firstly this month we will be focusing on Dinosaurs and creating different dinosaurs using a range of materials. This covers Exploring Media and Materials and the World in the EYFS.

We will have the small world dinosaur area and practice different roaring noises using our voices.  This covers the World, Understanding and Speaking in the EYFS.

We will also be creating some cards and other crafts for Father’s day. This covers People and Communities, the World and Exploring Media and Materials in the EYFS.

Later in the month we will be starting to focus on summer and the beach and will start to make some summer/ beach themed crafts. This covers Exploring Media and Materials in the EYFS.

Claire Claire, Littles Manager and Deputy Manager

Our theme this month in the Littles room is everyone’s favourite season Summer! We are hoping that the nice weather returns and we can head down to the local beach to explore the rock pools and collect shells, seaweed and other treasure to add to our beach tuff spot.

We will make and learn about all the creatures we may find at the beach and under the sea, using a range of media including bubble wrap, celery and our hands and feet.

Our books we will read this month are Tiddler, The snail and the whale and sharing a shell by Julia Donaldson. If you have any beach or under the sea themed books that your children enjoy please let us know or send them in for your children to enjoy with their friends.

We plan to turn our role play area into an ice cream shop and providing the children with different resources. (Covers many areas of the EYFS including People and communities and Being imaginative)

We will also attempt to make ice cream using milk and sugar and add it all into a bag for the children to shake and watch as it turns from a liquid into a solid before enjoying it for snack! (Physical development and communications)

The children will also be making their own boats and testing if they can float in our water trays using different colours and shapes. (This covers Mathematics and Understanding the world in the EYFS)

We love to see what the children get up to at home and when on holiday so please uploads to tapestry all the adventures that you get up to with your children.

Please remember to send in labelled sun cream and sunhats so that we can keep your children safe in the sunshine.

Sasha Sasha, Early Years Teacher – Pre-School

Welcome to the second part of the summer term, isn’t this year going very quickly! We have lots of exciting things to explore, learn and experiment with, over the next few weeks. Following our visit from the fire brigade, we will be moving on to look at ‘People who help us’, starting with the children’s first-hand experience of the fire service. We will look at what to do in an emergency, using the children’s imagination to create a fire station in our role play area and design and make our own fire engines, developing their physical development and shape, space and measures, through looking at the different sizes, shapes and materials needed.

We will go on to look at the police, ambulance service, vets, coastguards and finally the role of a teacher. This aims to lead nicely into supporting the transition to school, developing the children’s knowledge and understanding of the role of a teacher, building upon their expectations of school. The children will also have a few visits from some of these professionals too, to further their knowledge of the different roles and responsibilities. As usual our planning may change slightly depending on where the children’s interests take us.

As the weather is getting hotter, please continue to send your children in with sun cream and hats, especially as we spend a lot of time outside and as we continue our weekly forest school and beach school sessions.

There is also a range of lost property outside of the pre-school room, please take a moment to have a look through for any missing socks, cardigans, jumpers etc!

Please keep on adding to Tapestry; it is great to see all of the lovely things your children are up to outside of the setting.

Amy Amy, Out of School & Holiday Club Manager

This is our last term of out of school, and we will be carrying on with our outdoor activities to enjoy the sunshine and warmer weather.  We will also be doing a variety of activities indoors, including creating our own models out of wine gums and cocktail sticks and exploring different sensory creations.

We have been enjoying our new paddling pool, so please bring in spare clothes in case they get wet.  Also can you include sun cream and sunhats in their bags, in case we do get some sunshine!

You can relax when you bring your child to Fit 'N' Fun Nurseries, comfortable in the knowledge that they will be safe, stimulated, nurtured, educated, supported and encouraged.
